But I'll talk about that later.
Lately, I've been seeing these annoying facebook ads for the newest Maximum Ride. I believe it is called Angel. The ads are along the lines of this:
"Like Glee/Percy Jackson? Then you'll like Angel. Like and read the first 23 chapters for free online!"
- First of all, yes, I do like Glee and Percy Jackson. Very much, thank you.
- Secondly, I don't like Angel. And don't assume I will, because I never, ever will. My favorite characters of the Maximum Ride series (even though I've only read the first 2) are Nudge, then Iggy and Gazzy are tied for second. Nudge is my favorite because she's the most natural-acting of them all. Max kind of bothers me, and Fang is her dearly beloved, so I'm not a big fan of his either, and Angel annoys me too (her personality is like...well, look at her name). But Nudge is so normal and that's what I like about her. And the fact that Max doesn't speak of her as much as everyone else makes me sad :(.
- According to my friend, there are 77 chapters of Angel. Why do they let you read the first 23 online? For free? After liking their page? No. Usually authors let you read one glorious chapter online, a sneak peek, but since this author's chapters are so short, it would make more sense to give the audience like, five chapters. For some reason they give us a good third of the book. Imagine J.K. Rowling giving us a new Harry Potter book with six hundred pages and letting you see the first two hundred. Then you already know what the conflict is and you feel sad and let down once the "sneak peek" ends.
- Finally, I hate those pages where you're supposed to click on a link that is only exposed after you like the page. They never work, and the person who made the page just wants likes. Is this a competition?
